Squeezer, that's one of the biggest absurdities of the entire tobacco war. According to the antis and their Big Pharm partners, nicotine is "medicinal" when Big Pharm sells artificially distilled nicotine for "therapeutic" purposes, but it's a poison when it's sold in tobacco, where it's a naturally-occuring substance.

Yup! And along those lines, one of my favorite factoids is this one. Everybody knows that traditional Baptists are very much opposed to the use of distilled spirits. Thus, it was with much amusment that I learned that the wonderful product called bourbon for which Kentucky is so well known was invented by a Baptist preacher. As medicine.

Almost all ministries in the old American south were supported by the production of distilled spirits since the churches couln't afford to pay the stipend in the old days. When the fundamendalist movement took over from church conservatives in the 20s and 30s, they were all staffed by prohibitionists and their influence is still present in US Baptist circles today.

Don't use the dangerous, addictive, nicotine drugs sold to you by the "evil " tobacco industry...
