I know that many of you don't have hi-speed internet or the time to sit and watch an online movie, but I post these things when I come across them for those who might be interested.

Here is a good doc about Big Pharma. I don't think that I agree with the politics of many of the commentators in this film, but it outlines, very well, the basic problems with Big Pharma.

Though it never mentions tobacco or anti-tobacco (at least in our context), it will still make it clear to anyone seeking to learn more what people are talking about when they talk about the problems with Big Pharma in relation to anti-tobacco.

I saw this back in December. Here are a few comments I made about it in another thread.

I'm glad it's online now, but I'm on dialup and just can't see most of the interesting videos people post unless they're on the short side. DSL isn't available in my area yet.

It was about "invented" diseases and how Big Pharma pushes their drugs, how they've created a bigger market by inundating us with ads on TV, how they create a "new" drug just by adding an extra ingredient to the old drug when the patent is about to expire on the old drug, etc. etc. etc. They'll do anything--including lies, deceit, and fraud--for a buck.

I wish I had recorded it, to quote correctly, but my husband and I spent a long time discussing the situation and I didn't think about recording it until too late. Anyway, someone made the comment that a member of congress has said that Big Pharma has a stranglehold on congress.

It was on the front page of USA TODAY when I went to the gas station (finally got back to 3 dollars a gallon) today (Thursday) that 94% of all doctors admit to a 'relationship' with Big Pharma. Of course, it was NOT a huge headline, it was just tinily squeezed on the left-hand side in that column they use on just about every section. Of course, it wasn't huge headlines because it wasn't something attacking smokers.

I used to have compassion, but they legislated it and taxed it out of existence.
