Criminey Dutch! These editorials are worse than I expected. The Blade is really, really anti. Worse than other papers. Sheeesh. When I lived up in that region, there were a couple great Mexican restaurants that I loved going to. Crowded, noisy, smoky, and with wonderful food. Sad, sad, sad.

It's remarkable they don't even wait anymore for someone to claim a smoking ban killed their business. No, people like a**hole can now see into the future and see that it was something else.
Dave, I don't know how you can stand reading that crap day after day after day. It's sickening. A taste of what living in Nazi Germany was like, I suspect.
I sure hope someone GIVES you a copy everyday to read and that you don't pay for it. I think I'd be doing one massive campaign to get everyone I know to refuse to subscribe to this paper. Talk about propaganda. Our local paper had gotten quite biased on their editorial's for awhile but seem to have come around again to publishing opinion's on both sides.
I've lost count. Oh, it's #24. This arrogant ellitest bitch deserves some e-mail. Hate mail, preferably. Not that I'd ever suggest everyone here do that, of course .
I think at the very least, Roberta deserves to be "Jackass of the Month" on Forces. Oh, pl;ease forgive me-I forgot to include the linkfor her latest hate-filled column. I corrected that. Look above at #24.This is her worst one to date. Also #25.

She's one huge freaking Nazi. If FORCES still had the Jackass award, she surely would be featured.
I just love how these "people" don't think business owners know when their businesses are hurting, but more importantly, who should be running them.
I can see how an occasional customer might tell a business owner how he might improve his business. Maybe tell him that by making the exterior more pleasant looking more people will stop by. I cannot see an occasional customer going to a city council and asking them to force the business owner to do that.
I sent one off to Roberta. I'm not from Ohio but she is one bitch. I'd be doing some boycotting for the whole paper as long as she is a contributor of articles.
Roberta:
What the hell do you mean a "poor market decision" when it comes to the bar trade? Have you ever owned a bar? If you have and have struggled through new laws, regulations, licensing fees and renewals then you can sit there and spout all you want. If you haven't then go buy your own and make it smoke free. I do own one and while the majority of the American population may not smoke the majority of the bar population does. Unless you and your groups patronize a bar on a daily basis, socialize at them DAILY, then don't come on as someone who can keep any bars up and running.
Smoke is visible. It's not something that sneaks up and attacks you when you aren't looking. Bars cater to the adult population, one that is fully capable of making it's own decision on where and when to drink. It's one of those issues apparently to simple for someone with a mind like yours. If you don't like the smoke, don't go in, there are plenty of other places to get that ice cold BUD.
I don't even live in Ohio but when you see fit to get up on some righteous soapbox, condemn and judge other people by standards only you seem to see fit as acceptable then you should never be allowed pen in hand. It's only the devil's (or in this case Hitler's) instrument in you hands. How dare you think you, or any other group, have the right to tamper with someone's living? No one is forcing these people into these smoke filled bars, they come of their own free choice. Allowing smoking in an establishment isn't making anyone MORE money its only allowing them to make their living. By banning it, you have taken even that away.
A terrific letter, Lizzie! Your point about how smoke is VISIBLE and no one is forced to go into a bar where there is smoking is an excellent one. This is a truth the antis can't contest, so that's why they talk about the employees only when they're pinned down. Of course, there are plenty of bars where the only employees are the owners. That's how some of the bars in California got around the ban. And, of course, there are some bars where all the employees themselves smoke.
