Boy oh boy! The junk research goon squad is on a roll today! I guess these researchers figured out that anti-smoking research pays so now they are going to link it to AIDS/HIV. To the best of my educated knowledge, is a sexually transmitted and from sharing IV drug works....... Is it me or has anyone else noticed that more and more of these junk science reports are showing up in the news! Thanks! Varla_Pussycat |

From the Reuters article on this:
"In a review of studies that looked at the association between smoking and HIV, British doctors said five of the six studies they analysed showed smokers had a higher chance of becoming infected." "Nine of 10 other studies in the review that tracked the progression from HIV to AIDS found no link with smoking." Question is: Why did they analyse 6 out of 16? Another question: 10 out of 16 found no link. Shouldn't the majority of the story be on that and not on the 5 of 6? Edit: I just realized I read it wrong. The two sets of studies are different. One's for getting HIV and the other's for HIV to AIDS. This message has been edited. Last edited by: squeezer, |

HIV is associated with passing of body fluids when has smoking got anything to do with passing of body fluids.. unless after having sex you lite up a smoke and share it
-------------------------- can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen --------------------------- If you're fed-up with government intrusion into our private lives (alcohol, tobacco, weight or so-called obesity, etc.) especially the nonsense and destruction surrounding smoking bans, then discuss/fight smoking bans at the FORCES tavern or go directly to their FORCES homepage. A UK-based group (forcing a Judicial Review of the English smoking ban) is Freedom to Choose, with another great forum for chatting and organizing here. |

More nonsense from the Anti Movement. Right after the EPA Report in 1993, there was also a sudden influx of "studies" that came out of nowhere, linking smoking to all kinds of ailments. Many years ago, I played in some loud rock bands, and have some hearing loss in my right ear, which gets worse when I have a cold or a sinus problem. I make every effort to avoid going to the doctor to "un-plug" it, because he/she will tell me it's from smoking....
