I heard this on the news in the car tonight and I just started lauging. I've said it before, so I'll say it again: as goes NYC, so goes the Nation. How the hell do they enforce this one. Dial 1-800-trans-fat? Find the nearest police officer, hand him your fries and say "Officer, officer! I think the fat in my fries is partially hydrogenated!" Here's a study: http://www.junkscience.com/nov99/transfat.htm P.S.: Regarding the original article; in the bottom right hand corner is an additional article saying that people are confused by food labels. How's this for an article: "People found to be idiots who are confused by ATMs, voting machines, gas pumps, and food labels." Perhaps we should have a public health nanny at every market so we can consult them on our food? Maybe we should have some government official go through our bags as we leave? How about a little buzzer that goes off and annoys people while they shop until they checkout, thereby social-engineering people into a Pavlovian dislike of fatty foods? Uh-oh. I might have given the health Nazis an idea with that one. ____________________________________________________ Hope. Change.... Is "American Idol" on? |

I think the health industry is trying to get us all to buy natural ingredients and prepare our own food so they won't have to hire inspectors any more. The problem is fat is just as addicting as nicotine. Our bodies crave it naturally. We eat what makes us feel good and for us to feel good we must satify our cravings.
Tasteless foods are not going to satisfy us. Maybe we should be asking them how we should want to die. A slow death over months and years or a quick one from a heart attack. The real victums are those who are saved and spend the rest of their lives on drugs, tasteless foods, in nursing homes. Another case of the treatment being worse than the disease. What is there in life that makes it worth wanting more of it? I think most of want whatever feels good while we can as an offset against what we have to go thru in order to get what feels good. What is there to look forward to in the minds of the health profession? How many of us really want to continue to work until our two hundredth birthday. What will we be allowed to enjoy in our off hours? |
