I think this story has already been posted here somewhere, but I can't find it. People should send off an e-mail to msnbc news online and ask why this story is from 2004, and presented as "current news" (see links).

The part where her father tells of her problems before she arrived at work is what kills it for the antis...

"According to the medical examiner's report, the victim's father had seen her at 9:30 p.m. and stated she was having breathing problems at that time." She arrived at work 15 minutes later.

Yes, but the MSNBC related story (published just recently) does not include all the details of the original story, and I still wonder why the media would drag out a story that's four years old (except the obvious reasons...), which is why I think msnbc news should be questioned about this -- it's yellow journalism and smut, plain and simple.

There's nothing of substance here, at all, in either story.

According to all of the information they've made available, this is complete speculation. The eight page document is really a page and a half of the information that's already been made public followed by six pages or so of anti-smoking ETS propaganda. They've added a picture and some irrelevant details so the authenticity of the setting can be confused with the authenticity of the claim that ETS killed a young waitress.

From the information given, they're being purposely selective and using smoking in bars as a scapegoat to serve their political agenda.

Though it's certainly possible that a young waitress died of an asthma attack while working in a a bar, I still doubt that this story is authentic. I keep waiting for them to add "single mother" to the description of the waitress.

Yes, I know that is the rather obvious reason for dragging out this four year old story and re-presenting it with minimal details the second time around. And now Lance Armstrong is headed to Wisconsin to help with the smoking ban effort there...
