I'm humbled to have been elected to my 5th term as President of the Food & Beverage Association and another year of fighting the good fight.

To all my friends here at Speakeasy, I want to wish you all the very best holiday season.

Mark

Congrats, Mark. That's wonderful. Also glad to see you're still fighting. Many New York bar and restaurant owners are doing the same.

I finally got a reply back from my senator. It wasn't much, but it did show he acknowledges negative effects the ban has had on businesses and states that he is still open to alternative proposals. That's more than I had before. Below is the text:

quote:
Thank you for your letter regarding the state's prohibition on indoor smoking in places of employment. I have heard from many people on both side of the issues.

As we near the beginning of a new legislative session in January 2004, I will remain open to reviewing proposals to modify the law to address any negative impact it may be having on businesses. In the meantime, the law includes provisions for local health authorities to grant waivers to businesses that feel they have been adversely affected by the law.

So keep fighting. The antis will burn enough bridges and eventually run out of steam. People will reflect on what type of society we have become and these bans will go the way of prohibition. These are exciting times we live in with such opportunity to strike a blow for freedom and liberty against those who seek to suppress them.

Happy Holidays,
lock

Congratulations, Mark!

Yes, Lock, now is the time for us all to push ahead, because the antis are garnering more and more enemies every single day. The Resistance is growing.

I wish you both and everyone else here the very best of holidays.

The gorgeous redhead from Maine hasn't been here for awhile, but she's still taking names and kicking butt. In case you look in, Merry Christmas, Darlene!

Wanda! Roxanne! All my dear dear friends! I wish all of you a very safe and happy Holiday season!
I know I haven't been here much this past year since the death of Ralph. But I am refreshed and rejoicing in the fact that I know he would want me to be happy and to get on with my life. That is my one resolution.......to get on with my life and be happy once again!
I love you all! I WILL come back! heh!

Likewise I missed the holiday greetings. Just too much going on in my life related to Christmas and family. The very best to all in the New Year. Let us hope that 2004 is the year the antis fail, and normalcy returns to our world. Wink
