Polluters financing global warming researches: Gore Singapore, Aug. 7 (AP): Research aimed at disputing the scientific consensus on global warming is part of a huge public misinformation campaign funded by some of the largest carbon polluters in the world, former US Vice President Al Gore said today. "There has been an organized campaign, financed to the tune of about $ 10 million (euro 7.2 million) a year from some of the largest carbon polluters, to create the impression that there is disagreement in the scientific community," Gore said at forum in Singapore. Gore likened the campaign to that of the millions of dollars spent by US tobacco companies years ago on creating the appearance of uncertainty and debate within the scientific community on the harmful effects of smoking cigarettes. "This is one of the strongest of scientific consensus views in the history of science," Gore said "We live in a world where what used to be called propaganda now has a major role to play in shaping public opinion." After the release of a February report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, made up of the world's top climate scientists, that warned that the cause of global warming is "very likely" man-made, "the deniers offered a bounty of $ 10,000 (euro7,250) for each article disputing the consensus that people could crank out and get published somewhere," Gore said. "They're trying to manipulate opinion and they are taking us for fools," he said. |

Here's a favorable article on Al Gore.
http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/117/features-gore.html You'll notice that Al Gore's net worth has amazingly increased by 5000% since his presidential run in 2000 (that's 50 times). I'll also remind you that this supergenius lost in all of his debates against (gulp) George W. Bush. (I watched those debates and the pundit commentary and opinion polls after. No revisionism here.) "the deniers offered a bounty of $ 10,000 (euro7,250) for each article disputing the consensus that people could crank out and get published somewhere" Spin everywhere there. How's this? "Established publications pay for credentialed scientists to publish scientific articles." Al Gore gets paid over $100,000 to show up and make a speech on this crap! Who's he to talk? Has anyone even asked this guy a question regarding a subject other than Global Warming in five years? Gore has gone from a wrong-headed geek to certifiable loon. In my opinion, the guy is a stark raving maniac. He makes Jimmy Carter look like Winston Churchill and Dan Quayle look like James Madison. I wouldn't fully trust him to run a charity car wash. Global warming isn't even a fraud, it's a waste of mental energy; a bunch of contrived, fairy tale crap. It's man made, it's not man made, it's the sun, it's CO2, it's water vapor, blah blah blah. Really, it's just a non-sensical, annoying distraction. Static. Garbage. Dead on arrival. Here's the thing that constantly amazes me. If you went to Al Gore and said "Al, we want to put an end to all of this, so here's the deal. Please give us a list specifying, exactly, the following: What level of CO2 output do you want met annually by the U.S., ideally? Approximately, how many metric of tons of litter would you like removed from the U.S. in the next year, ideally? Ten years, ideally? What is an ideal, acceptable level of PCBs in natural waterways? Etc. Etc. Etc. Al, I guarantee you we'll meet every standard you require within one year. We'll bankrupt America to do it if we have to, but please just tell us, WHAT DO YOU WANT?" Al Gore and his ilk can not answer, in quantifiable terms, what they want! They can't ever do it! They have complaints, but no solutions. If you try to accomodate their complaints with some kind of list, with finite limits, as soon as the limits are met they're not enough. If you eliminate the tobacco, they'll want the fast food. If you eliminate the fast food, they'll want the oil. Eliminate the oil, they'll want the meat. Eliminate the meat, they'll want the wood. Eliminate the wood, and they'll want what you replaced the wood with (only to honor their demands). Eliminate the baby formula, they'll tax you for the breast. On and on and on forever. If government makes the tobacco, though, it won't be so bad. If government produces the oil, you'll be doing a service to your country by buying a government produced SUV. If government produces the cattle, animals will be ignored, dumb and stupid vermin... ...and so will you. Even if you took SAMMEC deaths seriously, Stalin's Russia killed about 200 years worth of SAMMEC deaths in what...a decade? Why? Largely because the government plan for growing crops wouldn't grow you a dandelion. Why didn't someone say something? If you spoke out, you found your brain diplayed in an array on your shirt. Not 20 years ago, in India, you'd have to fill out two hours of forms and travel 600 miles to get a new printer for your office. To call Al Gore a crazy idiot is being quite polite. Ah...the goracle speaketh.
The Global Warming Syndrome (TM) is nothing more than a way to be able to well, "tax the air" The dirty, slimy bastards have actually found a way to do it..... and most of the foolish, "I can't be bothered to think for myself, or find the truth" sheeple will accept this as gospel before it's all over. A relatively intelligent, non-liberal acquaintance of mine (not a good buddy now, mind you)has-unbelieveable as it is to me- bought into the goracle's hysteria. I was, to say the least, flabbergasted. He began to lecture me about this, and I just couldn't believe what I was hearing. I flat out told him I couldn't begin to believe he had bought into this scientific fraud and madess that is "Gorebal Warming"(TM). I asked him if he thought there was a motive that drove the likes of the goracle.....he said, "yes, they want us to have a planet that is inhabitable". WTF do you say to this? I mentioned the fact that Greenland was proven to have actually been green in the last few thousand years, mentioned ice-ages and such; mentioned the fact that, in the '70's "Global cooling" was all the rage, and they predicted another ice-age would be our doom. In the end I told him he better do some more research on the goracle, an example being that goreacle pollutes much, much more than you or I ever could...and thew fact that goreacle is behind this "carbon credit" idea. Will the goreacle profit? You bet. Will the sheeple lose? Damn straight. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 383rr, ---------------------- BAN THE BANNERS!!! |

I still haven't done my homework on this issue, but one argument of Global-Warming skeptics is as follows: The average temperature of the planet has only risen something like one and a half degrees in the past 100 years, and all the Gore talk is blown way out of proportion. Is that an accurate assessment? Since they grossly exaggerated the dangers of tobacco to the point where the majority of the public believe that simply sharing a room with someone smoking is like being at ground zero to a train de-railing and spewing 5000 gallons of something like sulfuric acid into the air, this would not surprise me.

Pat, if you haven't already check out 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' it's a good jumping point to research - Heck, watch Al Gore's movie too to get the PC view
I don't know how long the link will last- Google video and You Tube keep taking it off their sites. Someone usually puts it back up. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-30288475199333...ype=search&plindex=1 |

This whole Gorebal Warming scam had it's birth in the 70s with the Global Cooling crowd. "We're all gonna freeze to death" and that was all covered in detail by the same Time and Newsweek magazines that now defile skeptics of Warming. With the smoking ban success the new Gorebal Warmers learned their big lesson - We don't need no stink'in science! Now whatever the weather is they lay claim to it. Too hot, cold, wet, stormy, it's all Gorebal Warming. You disagree and you are attacked, not with evidence, but as a stooge of big business, etc. They ignore the billions they spend on propaganda. Exact same method used to get smoking bans passed. According to them "All debate is over" as if they ever had one in the first place.

I remember all the ABC movies of the week depicting global cooling, overpopulation, the morning after a nuclear attack.
Well, it may have actually happened. Boomers did not have as many children as their parents so there will not be enough consumers or worker bees to support social security and other government programs meaning that as boomers age they will be cool from freezing when they can't afford fuel to heat their homes and will starve because fuel costs have caused food to be too expensive to buy. Today we are being told dairy prices are rising because other countries do not have enough. Did they stop producing milk or did they eat the cows? Did they eat the cows rather than allow them to add to global warming? |

This whole Gorebal Warming scam had it's birth in the 70s with the Global Cooling crowd.
------------------------------------------- Perhaps a lot longer ago than that.Early in 20th century the scare was global cooling, toward the middle it was global warming, then the global cooling and now the global warming. The 4th scare of 100 years. Any old excuse to get your money and control of your life. The current anti-smoking bans are just a re-run of old tactics. Did not work; by 1927, all of the bans had been repealed. Never lose hope!! 1922: REGULATION: 15 states have banned the sale, manufacture, possession, advertising and/or use of cigarettes. http://www.tobacco.org/resources/history/Tobacco_History20-1.html |

Article published Aug 14, 2007 Inside the Beltway August 14, 2007 John McCaslin - Before Gore D.C. resident John Lockwood was conducting research at the Library of Congress and came across an intriguing Page 2 headline in the Nov. 2, 1922 edition of The Washington Post: "Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt." The 1922 article, obtained by Inside the Beltway, goes on to mention "great masses of ice have now been replaced by moraines of earth and stones," and "at many points well-known glaciers have entirely disappeared." "This was one of several such articles I have found at the Library of Congress for the 1920s and 1930s," says Mr. Lockwood. "I had read of the just-released NASA estimates, that four of the 10 hottest years in the U.S. were actually in the 1930s, with 1934 the hottest of all." Worth pondering Reacting yesterday to word that certain European governments and officials are suddenly trying to abandon their costly "global warming" policies, Royal Astronomical Society fellow Benny Peiser, of the science faculty at Liverpool John Moores University in Great Britain, recalls the teachings of Marcus Aurelius: "The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane." |
