Well Colorado may enact a smoking ban -- exempting a few places like casinos becuase -- hey -- the big gambling lobby has tons of dough and mom and pop bars do not.

On the news the other night was a local family lawyer who mentioned that 50% of marriages end in divorce.

I am often (daily) appalled by people who are unbelievably rude, hostile and angry -- and that doesn't couint inconsiderate drivers and road rage.

Colorado schools are doing badly. Our kids can't read and the drop out rate is really high. More and more kids are being medicated to keep them under control.

And then the hubby was reading an article in Discovery about the incredible per centage of Americans who are overweight and I started thinking...

We are a nation of fat, stressed, angry people who are encouraged to ask our doctors about the latest drugs.

Maybe we should start smoking again.

Indeed Lydia, Just wait 20-30 years once the anti-smoking jihad has come to pass and I'm sure some "expert" will write a book saying just that...

Maybe Americans are fat because our jobs are currently being performed in other countries, with little or no income we are unable to afford to go anywhere or do anything. We entertain ourselves by watching TV and complaining on sites like this.

Our children are overweight because of the previous. Children are locked up at home in the protection of no one, but because the adults in the household are trying to make enough money to keep the household under roof.

Children are not learning anything in school because so much of the time in the classroom is devoted to endoctrination. They are under survelience for mental problems, sexual problems, and learning difficulties> There is little time to devote the teaching them basic concepts of reading and math. The over educated administration of the schools on the state and national level are experimenting on the kids to find new ways to pour the needed facts into the heads of the children, none of them stop to think that these kids are NOT guinny pigs for their lastest creation. As children pass through schools they have one chance to learn and these educators are playing like the auto manufactureers did with design in the 50's and 60's and now wonder why Americans don't want their products.

People are stressed trying to make ends meet and wondering what kind of world their children will inherit from them. Government continues to fail at what they are paid to do and wastes precious resources on things that are not included in their job descriptions.

I smoke, I enjoy smoking, I think smoking bans and the discussions of same only distract the public from government's other failings.

In order to take control again of your own life study the people available for you to vote for. If no one suits you, encourage people with your values and concepts of government to run for office. Then work to get them elected.
