Re the smoking issue, the significance of Ahnold's election and the Gray one's recall is that Gray was very anti-tobacco and Ahnold is the first person in recent years elected to high office that specifically stated he didn't like the ban. Gray was specifically in favor of higher tobacco taxes in his campaign. This may mean that more legislators will not be cowed by anti-tobacco's big sticks.

I wouldn't count on that yet, John, but it was a treat to see him in the Century Plaza Hotel ballroom in "100% smokefree" California last night pull out, light and smoke a HUGE cigar!! No one told him to put it out or go outside. LOLOL

I guess a spokeman for the new governor said what laws are on the record will stay on the record. Maybe some amendments will occur. I just reread California's law today and the areas of where it doesn't apply. Still doesn't come close to what NY has imposed on businesses.
