Lawmakers must find other ways to balance budget.
Don't tell me the lawmakers are waking up! Senate rejects tax increase on cigarettes "Democrats voted "no," saying it's a levy on those least able to afford it." |

Apparently they are in some places.
I'll be interested to see what the Delaware legislature does when it goes back into sessin next week. The Governor wants at 35cent a pack increase to fund state employee pay raises. She just kicked smokers out side and now expects them to solely foot the bill for the state employee pay raise. That's bad enough - targetting only 20% or so of the populatin to take care of something that will benefit everyone. But among those people that will be getting that pay raise are the people that will be enforcing the smoker-ban. Once again, smokers are kicked out into the street and expected to gladly pay for the privilege. RUTH ANN MINNER - you need to get a life. Because you are going to need to find a job in 2004. |

And I hope someone who respects the personal freedoms & property rights of the voters will run agains her. And I hope the pro-personal-freedoms & property rights community will toss a few $ into their campaign fund when the time comes.
Vote the bastards out! |
