Students Lobby for Support of Tobacco Tax

I'm sorry but dumping body bags on the steps of the state capitol is not my idea of teaching students about how government works. I would find this sort of "demonstration" to be more credible if they would provide one death certificate that proves these bizarre allegations.

Additionally, it is illegal in every state in the US to sell tobacco products to anyone under 18 - what does raising taxes have to do with the lack of enforcement on the part of the state?

BTW - I'm being very good and not throwing in the standard West Virginia joke here!!!

What appalls me is that well-funded ADULTS are jerking these kids' strings and exploiting the kids to their own political ends. It's also appalling that the kids apparently can skip school with impunity so long as they are being good little anti-tobacco puppets. Shades of Hitler Youth.
