God Help Us All.
Michael Moore's next film, entitled "Sicko" is reported to be a plea for Nationalized Health Care. http://www.nypost.com/seven/04152007/news/worldnews/moo...ews_janon_fisher.htm I have to be honest. Though Nationalized Health Care is not the best way to administer health care, it could be superior to the existing, third party payer system, which is probably the worst way to go about the whole thing. There really isn't a good, total Free Market method for administering health care. There really isn't any good method, at all, for administering health care. The best way to administer health care is to keep routine procedures like exams, blood tests, x-rays, minor surgery, etc. immune from third party payment. In the same way that you pay much, much less for a DVD player than you did when DVD players came out, the Free Market will drive down the price of routine health maintenance procedures. (Keep in mind that we consider people who have a TV, DVD player, Telephone and microwave to be "living in poverty"). With this model, charity can easily make up the difference for people who can't access these routine services. Third party insurance should only be used for more complicated and expensive procedures. This will drive down the price of insurance premiums. (Notice, for example, that homeowner's insurance doesn't pay for painting your house or landscaping.) You really want to stay away from Universal, Government administered Healthcare. As we know, better than anyone, this scenario invites totalitarianism. Well, this becomes a book quite easily, so I'll stop there. This message has been edited. Last edited by: WinstonSmith, ____________________________________________________ Hope. Change.... As an individual tax payer I prefer to evaluate my medical requirements myself. I do not believe in preventive maintenance for purchases or for my body. I prefer to investigate the products I buy and determine what they will need before purchase and add that to the cost of ownership. I prefer to watch my own body and try to take care of it myself.
The medical profession has priced themselves out of the market. I can not afford medical interventions so I do my best to maintain my body myself. Most of the people I know being maintained by the medical profession are coerced into it by another 3rd party, normally a female. Most preventative medicine is expensive and it is based on a perception created by the medical profession that intervention is needed based on the same types of studies used to ban smoking. Medicine creates a need for intervention so they can apply it. |
