I am currently in Taiwan on vacation, and was planning on bringing back a couple cartons of Davidoffs back for my bosses at work. However, after reading some articles online, I heard selling of Davidoffs is prohibited in the United States. Now I don't plan on selling them at all, but I'm weary of even purchasing them now if Customs will destroy them when I get off the plane.
Two cartons I believe are 40 packs total. Thus meaning I'd have 800 cigarettes, 200 of which should be exempt for the Duty-free exemption and I would be taxed on the rest. The customs site currently states that the only cigarettes that cannot be brought in are ones manufactured for specific use OUTSIDE of the United States or in the US. Davidoffs are manufactured in Germany. Any help and any idea of how much I will be taxed if I am allowed to bring them in? |

The only help I can give you is that a carton of cigarettes (in the US anyway) is 10 packs, not 20. Personally, I don't think there'll be a problem with bringing them in, but that's just a guess. |

Thanks Squeezer, yeah, I guess I mean boxes?
I live in California, btw, so if anyone knows the tax it'd be great. |

87 cents tax on each pack I believe for CA.
