John L's posting of "Never trust an Indian" Disturbed me. So I did a some research at the

http://tax.state.nv.us/faq.htm#use

This is what I discovered.

"Who is liable for use tax?

Any individual, business, corporation or other entity can be liable for use tax, when sales tax is not collected. Below are examples in which Nevada sales tax is not collected by the seller and therefore, use tax is due from the purchaser.

Examples:
An individual buys a video cassette recorder from a mail order firm for use in Nevada.

An individual orders furniture from an out-of-state dealer who delivers or ships it to the Nevada resident's home for use in Nevada.

All purchases of tangible personal property over the Internet, by mail order or from catalogs are subject to use tax if Nevada sales tax is not charged by the seller.

A Nevada business orders a computer system from an out-of-state dealer who delivers or ships the system to the Nevada business' address.

A contractor orders a truckload of sheet rock from an out-of-state vendor who delivers or ships the sheet rock to Nevada for the contractor's construction job in Nevada.

An out-of-state resident purchases a vehicle from an out-of-state dealer who delivers the vehicle to Nevada for the individual's company operating in Nevada. NRS 372.185, 372.190, 372.250"

Needless to say I will be writing/email the place I purchase cigarettes from & asking "Should I REALLY be buying from them?

Citing John L's post as a reference.

We'll see what they say.

Here is my letter.

Three Feathers Tobacco,

I read an article on forces.org that disturbed me greatly.

http://www.timesonline.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=1872443...dept_id=478569&rfi=6

I'm concerned with the feds & states cracking down on Native America tobacco sellers.

I'm afraid I must ask "Will you comply by giving my info to the Feds & perchance to the state where I live.

I NEED to know Three Feathers stance on this issue. IN WRITING, or I will be forced to purchase my cigarettes locally.

A concerned buyer,

L. Cooper

And of course you just know that everyone who orders anything online, OR travels to another tax free state to bring goods home, reports all that and pays the taxes...............yeah right, and I'm the easter bunny.

This is why going after smokers is discriminatory.....they do NOT demand sales lists from outside vendors and send notices of taxes owed to anyone else. Until they do? Tell them to kiss your ass.

Just use cash. No paper trail-NO proof.

I used to have compassion, but they legislated it and taxed it out of existence.

EVENTUALLY, though-I believe they WILL get around to nailing everybody for everything on the internet, as far as sales go. I've noticed more and more on E-Bay that sellers/dealers in some states are notifying potential customers/buyers that if you live in their state, they're socking you for the tax. Al Gore wanted this "stolen money' (thinking it belonged to the government, not you) BAD-and so do many in congress and governor's mansions.
