I would like to see them tax alcohol, chocolate, and junk food at the same rate they tax cigs...I wonder how long these dipsh*ts would be in office if a 6 pack of Bud cost $15, a Hershey's bar $4, and a McDs "value meal" $12?

Nick, that would probably blow up in our faces. The minute the beer, chocolate, and junk food lovers hear of this tax hike they'd say, "Don't tax us, tax smokers!!! And the politicians would. Mad

Hey - let's not forget the STARBUCKS! Oh - that's right, there was an attempt to tax that in Washington or Oregeon (I think), a while back and everyone got their panties in a bunch about it!

Sure, because it affected the rabid smoker-hating yuppies.

Well, the booze tax is coming. Dave posted a thread on that.

I look for a tax on fast-food by 2010, as the dark prince banzhaf himself has been rumored to be working on that. Oh, and that conveiniently coinsides with the 'healthy people' 2010 "program"...even Orwell didn't think of that one.

They must to have something to blame diabetes on, also.
New York had a big campaign going on concerning that matter. Look out diet pepsi lovers.

And, as I have said before, if we get a national health care plan, then look out. All hell will be breaking loose then.

Has beeb RUMORED???? Where have you been, my friend - he's been bragging about it for at least 2 years, along with his bragging about the lawsuits against the fastfood industry structured exactly on the same principles as his suits against the tobacco industry.

I used the term rumored, because I didn't have the hard links in front of me to post, and I wanted to let it be known to some that might not have heard of it. I remember us discussing it at FR, and couldn't find the thread.... Smokin'

As much as I despise Banzshit, whatever spews from his mouth has a way of becoming public policy. He is the architect of the current anti-smoker jihad when he pressured the TV networks to ban cigarette ads and the FCC to replace them with antis-smoking ads back in the 60s. Next, he got airlines to ban smoking - and he is the grand poobah of ASH (action on smoking and health). His interest in obesity started about 10 years ago and already now, it is the second biggest public health cliche after smoking. Back to that, I think he made some noise about how doctors who don't hound their patients enough into quitting smoking could be sued. He is the Darth Vader of the antis. There are very few people I would like to see drop dead but he's on the top of my list.

John Banzhaf may be the most powerful man in American History to have less than .5% of the population know his name.
