Some argue that smoking bans are good because it shields kids from seeing people smoke. Supposedly this means they'll be less likely to smoke which is good for "public health."

Flag burning was back in the news again. I submit that flag burning is bad for national defense. Kids who see someone burning our flag will be less likely to respect it, more likely to do it, less likely to join the military and less likely to defend our country in event of a war requiring a draft.

Therefore, anybody who believes it's good to shield kids from seeing smokers should also believe that outlawing flag burning is a good idea.

A good national defense is good public health.

Squeezer, you forgot about all the secondhand smoke a burning flag produces. Oh wait, the flag is not made of tobacco so burning it can't be that bad...

Simple solution to the problem.

All cigarettes should be colored in the manner of the American Flag.

I'm not smoking a cigarette, occifer, I'm burning the Flag - Free Speech, dontcha know!!!

It either ends smoking bans or ends burning flags.......it's a win-win situation all around.

Gabz, I like that one! I'm against flag burning, but I'm against loss of freedom for smokers, too.

I am also against flag burning, except when done in the appropriate manner for disposal, but since that apparently is going to reamaain legal, if we can't beat'em, might as well join'em.

The flag supposedly represents our freedoms as Americans, so by extension burning it as a statement means our freedoms are going up in smoke........Smoking a cigarette colored to resemble the Flag would be a 1st amendment protected statement in opposition to smoking bans on private property.
