Wouldn't this make a nice highway billboard!!
Have ideas for the same sort of billboard about Heart Disease, Asthma, Emphysema(COPD), and Strokes. I am going to see if I can scrape up enough money to have this one put up somewhere here in the Aurora,Illinois area. Would like to have these go up along every Inter-state highway in Illinois. Does anyone have a spare million dollars or so that I can use to pay for them? Gary K. ------------------------------------------------ Data from THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION SAYS: Over the last 45 years smoking rates have gone down 50%. Data from THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY SAYS : Over the last 25 years Lung Cancer Incidence Rates have gone up 14%. Conclusion: SMOKING AND SHS IS NOT AND CAN NOT BE THE MAJOR CAUSE OF LUNG CANCER!! ---------------------- |

short sweet and to the point
got me to thinking how dose one create a POP up ad on the computer? there are millions and millions of people that use a computer and I constanly battle POPUPS those six line could be in a popup or buy ad space from the major search engines and place those six lines in your ad.. -------------------------- can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen --------------------------- If you're fed-up with government intrusion into our private lives (alcohol, tobacco, weight or so-called obesity, etc.) especially the nonsense and destruction surrounding smoking bans, then discuss/fight smoking bans at the FORCES tavern or go directly to their FORCES homepage. A UK-based group (forcing a Judicial Review of the English smoking ban) is Freedom to Choose, with another great forum for chatting and organizing here. |

Yes, Illinois billboard is a great idea, but the internet ad would be even better. I just got done playing the Orbitz baseball game pop up. LOL
Has FORCES et al. ever considered doing this? I'd donate (but unfortunately, not a million dollars). |

FORCES can not get into this because they are non-political.
From FORCES: FORCES, Inc. is a non-partisan, Educational organization which has been granted the 501(c)(3) non profit designation by the United States Internal Revenue Service, organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA. Your contributions are deductible as allowed by law. FORCES, Inc. is dedicated to fighting scientific, government and judicial corruption and promoting a return to ethics and morality in our nation's public life. FORCES, Inc. does not support or oppose existing politicians, judicial members or candidates for public office. -------- FORCES will stand on the sidelines and cheer;but, FORCES will not be a 'PLAYER'!! I admire Forces greatly and have used a GREAT deal of the info that they have available;but,I would not expect them to be there when I go into battle. That is not what they do!! AS for the billboard idea, one must remember that it is illegal to advertise tobacco. However; if one makes the billboard a political statement by saying, for instance, "Repeal the Smoke Free Illinois Act",and then your message, we should be OK. There do seem to be a few political and pharma ads going around!! Gary k. |

But Gary, this is merely informational, isn't it?
I heard the ACS gets around things worse than this with relative ease. A simple "Smoking causes lung cancer" message at the top of a political letter can then be called an informational letter. They're obviously snakes, but your message is clearly informational, not political. |

"They're obviously snakes, but your message is clearly informational, not political."
Hopefully, a line of small print on the bottom stating: "A public service announcement by The American Smokers Party-Illinois" will be enough. Have to talk to the billboard folks tomorrow. Gary K. |

I really like the idea of placing "INformational ads throughout the worldwide web.. just have to figure out the legalities of it all..I have googled "Informational ads"
http://www.allbusiness.com/marketing-advertising/advertising/596488-1.html Information Regulation (Including Regulation of Advertising) http://www.scribd.com/doc/239494/Information-Regulation...ation-of-Advertising -------------------------- can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen --------------------------- If you're fed-up with government intrusion into our private lives (alcohol, tobacco, weight or so-called obesity, etc.) especially the nonsense and destruction surrounding smoking bans, then discuss/fight smoking bans at the FORCES tavern or go directly to their FORCES homepage. A visual image you don't have to read at 65 mph.
Imagine this in scale 12 ft high, by 20 wide. http://www.smokersclub.com/images/poster/HATE-OHIO.jpg |

LightningBoy,
I think that picture would be confusing. I can see it as being taken as cigarettes are the hate part of the picture; people who smoke, hate you. And cigarettes/smoking in public is legal (the legal part). |

I have been talking to a billboard company about putting up Two(2) roadside billboards for six(6) months and changing the message on the billboards every month.
The cost would be $662.50 per billboard per month, total cost $7,950 for the campaign. These billboards would be small, 5 feet x 10 feet; but, that is big enough for my messages. Messages would look like this: Data from THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL SAYS: Over the last 45 years smoking rates have gone down 50%. Data from THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY SAYS : Over the last 25 years Lung Cancer Incidence Rates have gone up 14%. Conclusion: SMOKING AND EXPOSURE TO SHS CAN NOT BE "THE CAUSE" OF LUNG CANCER!! Messages 2-4 would look similar and quote the AHA and ALA on coronary heart disease deaths, emphysema deaths, and asthma. Messages 5 and 6 would be another "smoking caused" disease and about repealing smoking bans. Such billboards might rattle a few cages and generate media attention. If so; hopefully, I could get the Illinois Gaming Association, Illinois Retail Liquor Assoc, and other groups to come up with funds to blanket the whole state with billboards like these. Five smokers could do such a campaign for about $265 per month per person. Gary K. |

Billboard #5
Here is my idea for billboard #5: The Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids says: Every 10 percent increase in the price of cigarettes will reduce youth smoking by about seven percent. Over the last 10 years the cost of cigarettes has increased several hundreds of times; thus, THERE 'ARE NO' KIDS IN ILLINOIS THAT SMOKE!! Gary K. |
