Has everyone seen the Truth commercial, "The Radiation People"? I think that's what it was called. It's the one where some dumbass talks about smokers being radiated by the polonium 210 found in tobacco. I call him a dumbass because if the concern is so great why doesn't he mention that people who eat (basically everybody) get the same amount of polonium 210 from food? Everybody is "The Radiation People".

But it seems smokers take a backseat to the following people. Have you ever heard of a smoker setting off a radiation detector?

MIAMI (Reuters) - When 75,000 football fans pack into Dolphin Stadium in Miami for the Super Bowl on February 4, at least a few may want to carry notes from their doctors explaining why they're radioactive enough to set off "dirty bomb" alarms.

With the rising use of radioisotopes in medicine and the growing use of radiation detectors in a security-conscious nation, patients are triggering alarms in places where they may not even realize they're being scanned, doctors and security officials say.

Nearly 60,000 people a day in the United States undergo treatment or tests that leave tiny amounts of radioactive material in their bodies, according to the Society of Nuclear Medicine. It is not enough to hurt them or anyone else, but it is enough to trigger radiation alarms for up to three months.

At the annual Christmas tree-lighting party in New York City's Rockefeller Center in November, police pulled six people aside in the crowd and asked them why they had tripped sensors.

I wonder how they'd answer if they were asked about SHS? LOL

I stopped watching television over a year ago. I get my news from Google News now--not that I think it's any more accurate, but I figure if I read an adequate cross-section of lies, including those from Xinhua, Aljazeera, et al., I stand a better chance of putting together something resembling the truth.

Speaking of which, so, the American Pravda is still out there, huh? Have they run any horses over a cliff lately?

It doesn't surprise me that they're pushing polonium 210 lies now. The poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko has put it solidly in the public consciousness.

Oh, well... I figure whatever stupid people believe is good enough for them.

Robert,
That commercial came out a couple of years ago I think. I haven't seen it lately although I was thinking it would be dragged back back out after the spy thing.

I've never seen a Truth commercial that wasn't deceptive, but they do have a new one I like and I don't consider it misleading. It's called Singing Cowboy. It's actually funny.

If anybody wants to see it, it should be on this page if you look hard enough. Click on one of the tvs. link

Edit: You have to click on tv link on that page.

If you're fed-up with government intrusion into our private lives (alcohol, tobacco, weight or so-called obesity, etc.) especially the nonsense and destruction surrounding smoking bans, then discuss/fight smoking bans at the FORCES tavern or go directly to their FORCES homepage. A UK-based group (forcing a Judicial Review of the English smoking ban) is Freedom to Choose, with another great forum for chatting and organizing here.

There's nothing wrong with that. It's kind of a dumb question though.
