"No more smoking indoors. Everybody outside."
"Sorry. No more smoking by the doors. Move back."
"You're still too close to the doors: Move back."
"Keep going."
"Farther."
"Farther!"
"Keep going!!"
"Farther!!!"
"Go back some more!!!!"
"A little bit more!!!!!"
"I SAID, A LITTLE BIT MORE!!!!!!"
"OKAY! JUST A LITTLE MORE!!!!!!!"
"Uh, they can't hear us anymore, they're too far away."
"Let's get back inside. It's freezing out here."

(Smokeless tobacco is also banned. Must be all that secondhandsmokeless people have to walk through)

----------------------------------------

"It's not just the smokers' rights we have to consider," said LCC President Paula Cunningham, responding to criticism that the policy is too restrictive. "There's also the rights of people who don't want to walk through all this secondhand smoke."

Under the ban, people can't light up on any campus property, including parking garages and lots. They can smoke on sidewalks bordering campus and in Washington Square, a city-owned strip of land that runs through campus.

When the policy took effect in October, administrators said students could be suspended and faculty fired if they smoked outside.

Another change to the policy would add to the ban smokeless tobacco products, such as chewing tobacco.

Trustee Todd Heywood said the new policy is an improvement, but still goes too far. He thinks the ban shouldn't include college parking lots.

"For Christ's sake, they're adults," Heywood said.

Wouldn't it be far easier for everyone to just designate one room as a smoking lounge and make the ventilation system seperate from the rest of the building?

Sheesh. It's like they're going out of their way to come up with a rule that's as incovenient as humanly possible to every person affected.

That has to be the whole point to these kind of rules. It's not about health when you can't even smoke in the parking lots. It's not about nuisance when they even ban smokeless tobacco.

#$%@ Nazis.
